Shura Council Reviews Temporary Employment Initiatives in Key Session

MUSCAT: The Shura Council, in its third regular session of the second annual session of the tenth term, held significant discussions on “temporary employment initiatives.” His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Saeed Baouin, Minister of Labour, presented these initiatives to align with national goals and bolster Oman’s labour market readiness. The session underscored the importance of fostering workforce initiatives to empower Omani youth and enhance employment strategies.

His Excellency Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Speaker of the Shura Council, opened the session by emphasizing the alignment of discussions with Oman’s broader development objectives. He stressed that the proposed initiatives aim to improve employment strategies and uphold the nation’s public interest. The discussions were a testament to the Council’s commitment to advancing sustainable workforce solutions.

Key highlights included the “Employment Contracts Initiative,” the “One Million Hours Initiative,” and the “Sahem Program.” These programs were outlined by His Excellency Minister Baouin, focusing on empowering Omani youth, boosting their competitiveness, and strengthening the legal and administrative frameworks surrounding temporary employment. The dialogue also explored the implications of these initiatives for both the public and private sectors.
