MUSCAT: The Ministry Of Education In Oman Celebrates Omani Teachers’ Day Annually On February 24, Recognizing The Pivotal Role Educators Play In Shaping Future Generations. Teachers Are At The Heart Of The Nation’s Development, Imparting Knowledge And Values Under The Wise Leadership Of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik. His Majesty’s Continued Support For The Education Sector Was Evident In His Visit To Sultan Faisal Bin Turki School Last Year, Reinforcing His Commitment To Enhancing The Educational Framework And Encouraging Educators To Pursue Excellence.
Omani Teachers Are Instrumental In Instilling Core Values Such As Loyalty, Tolerance, And Community Service Among Students, Helping Them Navigate Their Educational Journeys And Career Paths. The Ministry Of Education Provides Extensive Support To Teachers Through Continuous Training, Professional Development Workshops, And Programs Designed To Improve Their Skills In Line With Global Educational Standards. The Ministry’s Efforts Ensure That Teachers Are Well-Equipped To Deliver Quality Education, Keeping Pace With The Evolving Demands Of The Sector.
As Of 2024, Oman’s Public Schools Employ Over 74,316 Teachers And Administrators, Reflecting A Growth Rate Of 3.1% Between 2020 And 2024. Additionally, 1,223 Private Schools Across The Sultanate Employ 22,539 Educators. To Further Elevate The Teaching Profession, The Government Has Established Specialized Training Institutes, Offering Various Programs That Target Different Educational Levels And Roles Within The System. These Institutes Aim To Enhance The Capabilities Of Teachers And School Administrators Through Well-Structured Training Modules.
The Specialized Institute For Professional Training Of Teachers Plays A Key Role In Strengthening Oman’s Education Sector. In 2024 Alone, The Institute Trained 24,430 Individuals Through Strategic, Central, National, And Decentralized Programs. Moreover, The Institute Oversees The Development Of 4,250 Teachers And Educational Supervisors Holding Advanced Degrees, Including 3,721 With Master’s Degrees And 529 With Doctorates. These Initiatives Highlight Oman’s Commitment To Elevating The Standards Of Its Educational Workforce And Ensuring A Brighter Future For The Nation.
