MUSCAT: The Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat marked Kashmir Solidarity Day with a solemn and well-attended event, bringing together a significant portion of the Pakistani-Omani community. The gathering aimed to express unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination. The event commenced with the recitation of messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, which were read by the Deputy Head of Mission and the Community Welfare Attaché. A documentary highlighting the suffering of Kashmiri people in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) was also displayed, offering attendees a glimpse into the hardships faced by the Kashmiri population.
Eminent speakers, including Prof. Dr. Zahid Qamar and Mr. Kamran Mushtaq, addressed the audience, shedding light on the various dimensions of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. They emphasized the historical, political, and humanitarian aspects of the ongoing crisis, stressing the need for a just resolution in accordance with international law. Their speeches resonated with the audience, reinforcing the importance of continued advocacy for Kashmir. The event also served as a platform for community members to discuss the role they can play in raising awareness about the plight of Kashmiris on global platforms.
In his keynote speech, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, Syed Naveed Safdar Bokhari, reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to supporting the people of IIOJ&K in their rightful struggle. He condemned India’s unilateral and illegal demographic and administrative changes in the occupied territory, vowing that Pakistan would continue to expose Indian atrocities against the innocent Kashmiri population. He also paid tribute to the Kashmiri people for their resilience against ongoing oppression and lauded the efforts of the Kashmiri diaspora in highlighting the issue internationally. His address underscored the determination of Pakistan to stand by Kashmiris until justice is achieved.
The Ambassador further emphasized the importance of educating younger generations about the Kashmir dispute, warning against attempts to distort historical facts. He urged the international community to play an active role in resolving the issue, stressing that peace in the region is contingent upon a just solution. He concluded by reaffirming the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to raising the voice of Kashmiris at all global and regional forums, ensuring that their struggle for self-determination remains at the forefront of international discourse.
