MUSCAT: The traditional shooting competition held in the Wilayat of Al Amerat saw the participation of 692 shooters from various governorates of Oman. This event, organized as part of Muscat Nights, attracted shooters from all over the Sultanate, highlighting the growing interest in traditional sports. The competition, which spanned two days, took place at the well-known shooting ground in Al Amerat, known for its historical significance in Oman’s shooting culture.
The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Salim bin Rabie Al Senaidi, Wali of Al Amerat, who emphasized the importance of such events in promoting the country’s traditional sports and cultural heritage. Also present was Luciano Rossi, President of the International Shooting Sport Federation, who praised the efforts of the organizers and expressed his satisfaction with the competition. His presence highlighted the global recognition of Oman’s efforts in fostering international sports events.
The competition was divided into 21 groups, with each group comprising 33 shooters. Over the course of two days, the competitors showed their skills, and the final day saw a particularly intense showdown between the 50 shooters who qualified for the finals. The event not only demonstrated the participants’ shooting accuracy but also their determination to excel in such a prestigious competition. The finals were a testament to the high level of competition in Oman’s traditional shooting scene.
At the conclusion of the event, Sheikh Salim bin Rabie Al Senaidi honored the top shooters, recognizing their remarkable achievements. Additionally, Ahmed bin Saif Al Shibli, Head of the Al Amerat Traditional Weapons Shooting Team Committee, presented commemorative shields to Luciano Rossi and the Wali of Al Amerat. The event was widely regarded as a success, with participants, officials, and spectators expressing their hope for future editions that will continue to support Omani youth and traditional sports.
